Protein Binding
Protein Binding
1. Static model (unreal situation)
This assumes no dosing or drug elimination. Some bound drug is displaced to become free, and free concentration increases.
2. Dynamic model (true to life)
A displacer will initially cause an increase in free concentration (as in the static model), but free drug elimination will increase until the free concentration returns to the predisplacement level.
NB: Total drug concentration will be reduced in this setting, but free concentration remains the same.
